Default can i tow this?

My dad wants me to help him move from PA to MN. he wants me to tow his honda ridgeline about 1000 miles. Assume a car trailer and I dont know the weight of his truck.. I have the 3.55 gears and the 5.7. I know the dead weight is 8500 lbs, but I only tow my camper and thats only 4K. I just dont want to hurt the tuck.

The ridgeline is about 4500 lbs, with the trailer, your probably at around 5500 - 6000 lbs. You will have no problems at all. Probably tows better than your camping trailer because of the aerodynamics of the ridgeline are better than the trailer.

Cool

My compass may be off, but I do think the max. towing is 10,000lbs. on your quad (5 ton). Mine is 8900 lbs. but for some reason I think I read somewhere that Dodge increased the range for towing. I THINK mine has been increased to 10,000, but don't hold me to it. I do have 3.92.

The quad cab 4x2 SB with the hemi and 3.55 is rated at 7,800 LBS. Here is link to the glossy brochure from the dealer. Alll of the info is at the back page

Yep, I found it Pedro, you are right. Weird, just for the heck of it I went to Ramtrucks and the max. capacity for a 11' quad is 10,050. I wonder if this is the revision I was mentioning? I tried google and I cannot find any revision #'s for chev.

the only revision that I'm aware of is the change from the '09 ratings to the '10. You're right about the 1050 but that is for the 2010 QC SB 4x4 with the 3.92. itaintachev has the 3.55 axle. This glossy has the max rating at 10,300 for the QC SB 4x2 with the 3.92. It's strange that the website doesn't match. That's probably some bean counter not wanting to spend the $s on making things match.

I'm not clear on what he means when he says that "Assume a car trailer and I dont know the weight of his truck.. I have the 3.55 gears and the 5.7. I know the dead weight is 8500 lbs,". I looked up the weight of a Ridgeline and it comes out to 4,500 lbs, for him to get to 8,500 lbs of "dead weight", the trailer would have to be 4,000 lbs and I find it hard to believe the car trailer is that heavy. If he is indeed at 8,500 lbs, then he is over the limit.

A Ridgeline is only 4500? Boy that seems light don't it? I friend used to have one and it looked beefy to me. I do know Honda stopped making them because of poor sales. So if 4500 is the weight and your figure is 7000lbs and change then he should be ok, chev does have a hemi. FYI, A good friend is a Dodge salesman and he just text me. The revisions were done to make the towing capacity more in line with Ford, GM etc. for sales reasons. The Ram went under no modifications, Dodge just adjusted the numbers.

Here is the site I got the info on the Ridgeline. This is for the 2012 model year. The heaviest model (RTL) Curb Weight comes in at 4564. I don't think they ride on a chassis so they are lighter and they have a V6 engine to boot.
