Cracked CV Boot **Pics**
I had a really loud scraping/sqeeling sound coming from my front wheels,
<<< CLICK FOR VIDEO!!
I jacked the truck up and removed the wheel to investigate, it was only a small stone stuck between the dust sheild and the rotor. It wouldnt come out on its own, very annoying.
Anyway, while i was looking around I found out my inner fender was spattered with grease.

I found out it was coming from a broken cv boot on the outter cv joint.

The truck has 52000kms (32,500 miles) and never been off road.
Hoping to get it fixed in the next couple weeks.

I see your driving a 2010? And from brooks? Unless your driving crazy miles north, I cant see you past your warranty...
Should be covered, be glad that you took the time to check tho. No grease = more friction = more heat could equal broken CV joint in time...At least you know what the problem is...

Ya it's got 52k on it, I'm hoping it's covered by warranty but either way I'm glad I noticed it before it seized up and broke. Wife drives the truck so I don't usually find out about things till they break lol

It's not too uncommon for something to catch in that boot and slit it. I had to replace a CV on my ATV when it was less than a year old because a boot got cut by of all things a cotton stalk, cut it like a hot knife through butter.
After seeing just how easy it was to damage the CV boot I subsequently bought and installed a set of skid plates for it that came with four aluminum guards for the CVs. Somebody needs to make a guard for IFS trucks if they don't already.

I'm thinking it'd be a nice project for my laid off a$$ to work on after the holidays since I have a shear and a brake and really just need to come up with a mounting system that won't interfere with turning...

Its 3 year and 60K on the full warranty, which includes EVERYTHING! electronics seats switches bulbs body rust etc...
In my mind the CV has to do with powertrain, so he should be good for a long time. Unless things are different on earlier 4 gens, thats what I have so he should have the same given he is living in my same province... Unless he skipped over the boarder and bought one down there.
