Basically remember to run your heat on low so that the all glass heats slowly and thoroughly as opposed to partially.
I hope you dont mind if I piggy back on your post. I noticed today with just my internal fan running I had to close the door with much more force than normal. Im sure that creates some outward pressure on everything in the cab. It's nice to know all the seals must be working well to need that much force to close the door. I own a 2000 Dodge ram w\club cab. It's something not seen very often with other American truck makers.

Im not bashing other truck makers but....well, yes, yes I am....Go Mopar. haha

btw I too have a cracked windshield but it also had a chip first.

I've looked at dozens upon dozens over the years. Many cracked in cold, defrost turned on. Nothing unusual. It had a chip in it. Take a ball point pen and follow the crack. You'll find the 'chip' Call your insurance and turn it in. Thats why lots of insurance company's pay for 'chip' repair because sooner or later chips turn into non repairable cracks.

in nj that comes under comprehensive. for me thats a 50 dollar deductable and does not raise my rats. i would also want a dodge to replace with a dodge winshild, not that cheap stuff the glass dealers use around here. with those, bugs will crack the cheaper windsheilds.

No one for the most part use 'factory windshields and haven't'. Dealers don't like orderering them. High amount of damage in shipping as well as price. There is good quality glass on the market.

I hope safelite.com uses quality glass. I just scheduled a service for tomorow morning on my 2000 Dodge club cab windshield. They quoted
$243.00 total with taxes. No insurance to cover mine, it's out of pocket.

Anyone had any experience with using safelite? Does the "lite" in their name indicate a lighter glass?

I had a wrangler windshield and an expedition windshield both replaced by safelite and both were great. The one thing I noticed was that they essentially quote you what everyone else is quoting initially. I did this over the phone with their 800 number. I said, nah, let me think about it. A few days later they called me back and offered to do it for something like $50 less! So that was cool.

I had the windshield on my expedition replaced for $200 and when I picked it up, I had them look at a chip on my f150 (which I got rid of to get my ram, but whatever) and they quoted me $150 to fix the chip. Weird that fixing a chip is $150 but a whole new windshield is $200. I'll let me chips stay chipped until I have more than one then I'll get a new windshield.

They came out this morning and replaced the windshield however the technician put his knee thru the lower half of my dashboard next to the glovebox.I know people make mistakes so him offering to fix it and being honest was good. He was very helpful in telling me how to go about having it fixed. I called the corporate safelite and they are going to replace my dash after I fax them a quote.
