ipod on 2012 Laramie 730/735(REW) in UK
Hi,
Lots of helpful stuff out there on other Media Centres and on older RAM, but couldn't see anything on 2012 with REW Media Centres.
Plug iPod into Glovebox USB with standard Apple iPod cable (as some people suggest).
Dodge Logo appears on iPod, and iPod charges.
Does not play audio though.
Does not appear on Media Centre.
iPhone 3GS connects via Bluetooth and seems to work. Speech sometimes a bit "choppy", but I haven't used it enough to be convinced that it's a problem. Haven't streamed audio with Bluetooth - haven't tried !
REW on software 2.402
HFM on SW:53.01.23
There is a local Chrysler/Jeep Dealer, but I'd like to have as much info as possible before I approach them and beg !
If I can give them a solution, then they might help me.
Anyone any thoughts... ?
Or is it as simple as I need to buy an official Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler cable to go from my iPod into the USB in the Glovebox ?
Cheers

Just tried my iphone 4 with OS5 on my new 2012 with the 730n (12/11 build date, RHR radio) and it works fine with the regular iPod cable plugged into the USB in the glove compartment. Streaming audio also works well for me, except you have to select shuffle from the iphone itself if you want it. No album art, just generic 'rock,' 'classical,' etc little pictures.
It didnt work the first time I plugged it in though, after I unplugged it and plugged it in again it all started working fine. After it was plugged in, pressed the radio/media button and the both the USB and blutooth iphone in the 'aux' devices menu. Took a few minutes to index and it has worked fine on the first connect every time. I have a feeling if I add/change songs it will take a while to index again.
You actually have a 735N (REW) so your software is different from US market 730N (RHR) I have so my version numbers wont help you.

Hi kpevin,
Thanks for the Reply.
Good to know that yours works with the standard iPod cable. It's reasonable for me to assume that mine should too.
Your comments on Indexing have got me thinking... Perhaps it just takes a long time to Index first time.
I have about 3,500 songs on my iPod and they are all at 320kbps. That's a lot of data for the 735N(REW) to read.
Perhaps the next time I'm out, I'll connect it again, and leave it for the journey.
Maybe it just needs a long time - though it would be helpful if at least the Media Centre told me it was indexing. Oh well...
Cheers
Michael

I didnt get a RAM on the iphone screen though, just the generic 'ipod is being controlled by another source' window
