Give me the lowdown on the different diffs and what i could do.
I have a 09 1500. I do not have LSD. I understand LSD switches the power to the tire with more traction when on tire slips. My truck is a 4x4. I have herd it is better to have LSD when off roading. My truck for the life of it will not spin the left tire, only the right in 2wd i dont know about 4wd or how the diff works in or out of 4wd. I just need some explination on what it is my truck does in the different wheel drives. Also i want to be able to lay duel black marks. What are my options as far as this goes. I know it can cause problems being locked like that around corners. So do i have any good options at a reasonable price or im i looking at a grand or more?

I have 3.92 gears with the lsd and the truck will easily lay dual black marks. My brother has an fx4 with 3.73 gears and an ecoboost. This truck will lay a 'one wheel peel' all day long in 2 wd but in 4 wd, has an option to enable the electronic locker making it a posi.
Detroit Trutrac is a good solid wormgear carrier you can install inplace of your open diff.
Auburn LSD is another option. it's a clutch pack but is much tougher and purposelful than the terrible OEM LSD that is prone to breakeage.
I would highly reccomend staying away from lockers that go inside of your open diff. These are very noisey and make loud racheting sounds. They are not forgiving at all and aren't really street friendly. They are slightly cheaper and easy to install but the come at a high price while trying to drive in comfort.
Rear diff install will cost around $700 for parts and another $5-600 for labor. The Ram diffs are much more complex than other makers. It's not something you can do yourself.
Limited slip can actually be worse to drive on the road in certain situations. Such as getting on the highway from the circle style entrance in wet weather and stepping on the gas...rather than the inner wheel spinning and you maintaining full control, both tires can spin causing you to lose control and have the *** end swing out from behind you. So, two eheels spinning back there can get an immature driver in trouble. My wife wouldn't feel comfortable at all in those situations so I dont feel comfortable letting her drive in any wet weather. Actually she's never driven my truck..haha but it's only got 10kmi on it.

I looked at what your talking about and they run around $500 either way. I am guessing i have to get one that fist my ring gear size which is 9.25" but when i looked in jegs they said the detroit truetrac only fit up to 2007. Do you know where i can get one for my 09 or will this fit as well?
