Default Wheels chrome clad!?

Anyone have removed their plastic chrome inserts?

Pics? How does the wheel appears without them?

I am thinking of either painting the chrome black or remove the plastic and paint the alimium black..

Suggestions?

Thanks..

Forget it. I have seen clads cracked off and it is ugly. Best advise is th previous post. There are many people with silver 20s that would jump at a clad trade.

Had a nice conversation with the owner of a Ram Sport that had the wheels with chrome cladding. We couldn't figure out how the plastic chrome overlay was attached. It looked like they were being held on with some type of adhesive. Anybody know if thats true?

They are stuck on w/ some adhesive...and looks like crap and would be a PITA to clean up...Here's your answer bud! Did a little searching and google and found it on another forum...if your not a member of this site sign up and look b/c if your not it probably won't let you..

I was doing some market research on what kind of wheels people like and stumbled across these comments. I figured since I used to work for one of the companies that made chrome-clad wheels I’d offer some facts that may be helpful.

The wheels are designed so that the claddings are permanently fused to the wheel and not easily removable - but if you really want them off I am sure you will find a way to do it - as some have. It would be much easier to find used non-chrome wheels to paint.

Platidip is the way to go if you want to keep the wheel but make it black. Sure, the decladded 20s look decent, but waaaaaay too much work to get them to that point.
