Default Fuel Injection Service

Has anybody had a fuel injection service? my dealership recommends it every 30,000kms apparently. I will be at about 85,000 when i take it in. I have never had this done before. Is this a waist of money? Not sure how relevant it is but i always run ESSO,petro-can or Shell, 91 octane gas whenever possible.

I personally think its a waste, but we run ethanol in MN which is the best fuel system cleaner you can buy

I had a "BG top end decarbonization and injector cleaner" done on my '02 vette and it made the car idle/run better. I had it done at 67,000 miles. Cost was around $160 so I was willing to give it a try. On my Ram I haven't had it done but I do run a bottle of Chevron Techron Concentrate about every 7,000 miles. One thing I noticed made a nice difference to the idle was cleaning the throttle body.

I had it done on my '03 Dakota 4.7 at 50,000 miles and although I thought the engine idled very smoothly, it did make a slight improvement. I also thought that it made a difference in low speed acceleration, such as from a stop. It did not appear to make a difference in gas mileage, however.

Right after that I stopped using the Kwik Fill stuff and began using Mobil, then switched to Sunoco. The engine continued to idle like a watch for the next 101,000 miles.

I no longer use the cheap stuff.

Best regards,
Dusty

do this during the spark plug replacement intervals and you should be good. it takes about ten minutes and it was in need of some attention. much more than the plugs imho.

You can periodically use an off-the-shelf fuel system cleaner and it'll do just as well, actually better because they tend to gradually break down the contaminants the clog up injectors (mostly caused by the introduction of ethanol into gasoline). Avoid products that contain alcohol especially if you are using a fuel with ethanol in it...
