Default Anybody here use a dash cam?

I'm looking for a dash cam... preferably one that works with mac OS X but it doesn't HAVE to.. anyone use one or know any good ones?

Also, how would you go about wiring it in to the truck directly instead of through a cigarette lighter or however else you power it?

Any "PC" camera (that works with a PC or a MAC) can be installed as a "dash cam" and the video/power (usually a USB cable) can either be snaked down through the "A-pillar" and the laptop (PC or MAC) can either lay on or under the seat. Powering the laptop is a separate issue that is usually best left to the cigarette lighter adaptor cables available from the specific laptop manufacturer for the specific model laptop in use. These aren't mere 12-volt power cables, but actually have components in them designed to limit the current or adjust as well as regulate the voltage to whatever value the laptop needs. Hence I'd be a little leery about running raw unfiltered 12~14v vehicle power straight in to them. Only my 2¢ worth.

Or a GoPro camera.....Depends on what you are planning to do with the camera I guess.

I just saw a wireless Bluetooth mini-cam today, completely self-contained, about the size of an LED mini-flashlight. Slow scan (about 3 frames per second) but pretty cool. "Look ma, no wires!"
