Default Can you install a 2011 MyGig into a 2010?

Guys (and Gals),

I am considering buying an upgraded factory radio for my 2010 Ram 1500 TRX. My current factory radio is the stock RES with Siruis (circa 2010 model year). The radio that I want to buy is a REN/RBZ pulled from a 2011. I read that the 2010 and 2011 have the 4th gen high speed bus. However, I read on another site that the 2011 model year has a "new system bus that is not compatible with prior year models." Something about that does not seem right.

Can I install a stock 2011 REN/RBZ radio into a 2010 truck?

Thanks.

I installed a 2011 RBZ in my 2009 Ram so, why not. I also had the RES.

It is plug and play. The RBZ radio comes with/without Sirius radio so make sure which radio you are getting.

2012 is the year with the vin id radio.

I am inclined to give it a try. This is encouraging.

I think it will be plug and play. I recently put a 2011 RHR radio in my 2009 1500. The write up is here: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=102254

You won't need to worry about the GPS antenna as I did. I'm not sure about the microphone cable though..

Just make sure the new radio is a "High Speed" CAN bus radio.

Let us know how you make out.

Yes you should be fine, the part# for the 2010 is the same as the 2011. They are both high speed CAN bus. I am getting ready to replace my factory stereo with a RBZ that was just replaced by the dealership in my buddys 2009. He wants an aftermarket stereo so he is giving me his brand new replacement. Good Luck!
