Default TPMS Compatibility

Did not get the specific answer I was looking for in a search. I have a 2009 Ram with 17" stock wheels. I recently picked up a used set of 2010 factory 20" wheels with sensors included. Will the 2010 sensors be compatible with my truck?

According to tirerack.com, both the 2009 and the 2010 use 433MHz sensors.

Okay so the sensors in the factory wheels I bought used didn't work.
After about 20 miles roughly the light came on. I did notice a jump in gas mileage though. I went from winter tires which were 285/70/17 BFG AT to 275/55/20 GY Eagle LS2 for the summer. They are about an inch less in diameter and weigh alot less I noticed. Not sure whether the light bothers me enough yet to worry about it too much or the desire to throw more money at it and get the correct 2009 TPMS sensors installed. The manufacture date on the rims leads me to believe that the rims may have been off a 2011 truck. I thought they were off a 2010 truck.

I went thru the same thing, my used wheel sensors didnt work either when i switched to 17" for the winter.
Spring is almost here though, i`ll get my 20" back on soon, then the idiot light in the dash will be out.

I was looking at a set of 4 out the door for $600 (these are the same size as you bought)

They are okay, alot quieter than my BFG AT's are. I should get a couple of summers out of them. They wouldn't be my first choice but I got them as new take-off's from my Uncle who owns a tires shop. $140 for all four, some guy came into the shop with a new chevy truck wanting michelin tires. My Uncle sold them to me for what he gave the guy on trade in towards new tires.

Yeah i have to agree with your level of thought about them. They look just ok to me too, but i`m thinkin they aren`t as good as i would hope they would be. I believe i`m going to pass on the set that was offered to me. I hate spending big money on somethin that isn`t going to last very long, or worse yet, not perform that well for the money spent. Thanks budd, your answer kinda made up my mind.

I wonder if they don't work or if you have to get them programmed to your vehicle. If the computer doesn't know it is supposed to communicate with them, it wont. Kinda like it doesn't communicate with the sensors in the car next to you at a stop light.
