Mopar backup camera install question
Ok, step 37 (after I take out the C6 connector from under the TIPM) it says:
Cut the L1 circuit WT/RD from cavity 5, using steps 37-42,solder in the WT/LG backup lamp feed wire.
So, am I supposed to "cut" the wire completly in half and out of that C6 connector, or am I just "splicing" it? By that I mean, tearing away the insulation and mating the new wire to the cavity 5 wire thus leaving it connected to cavity 5?
Does this make sense?

Its a little confusing for sure, but you are splicing the wire from the camera harness to that wire. The reason they want the wire cut and then spliced back together (along with adding the new wire) is so you can slide the heat shrink tubing over the splice. If you just take the insulation off and splice the new on all you can do is tape it up, which will probably work just fine if its soldered and taped properly.
But yea, the original wire connection is not cut permanently, its cut and spliced back together along with the new wire.

fyi, i found that the supplied connectors didn't work very well. i took some blue butt connectors and cut all the insulation off of it. i then make the connections using the bare connectors and a crimping tool as you would normally. with all the insulation off you can solder the connections as Dodge recommends.
your wires are easier to replace into the wrappers this way because the cut wires will not be shorter than the rest (the amount that goes into the supplied connector).

Install went great, had the dealer flash it (took 20 min) and it works great. The only problem I ran into was either when I disconnected the TIPM or when the dealer flashed the truck, I lost Viper remote start...? It must have cleared its computer or something. I'm taking it to Best Buy today to have it checked.
