Change of plans
Hey all, Haven't been here much lately. I have a 2010 Crew Cab with a leveling kit and 315 tires on it. I like it, don't love it. And the mileage with the larger tires sucks, the tranny can't handle the extra heat while towing and I think I need to go to smaller tires. I won't like that look so I have a plan. I know it won't be popular, and people will mock it, but I have reasons.
I want to pull out my lift and lower the bitch. Yes, I did just suggest lowering a 4x4. Why? Well, for the reasons mentioned above. Improved mileage with a tire more close to stock, and I need to keep my tranny temps down while towing and can't do it with the larger tires. Why 4x4? Well, for one it's what I have and two, the ice and snow on the roads up here in BC preclude me from having a 2wd. I don't offroad much and could live without it. It won't be slammed, so backroads and gravel will be fine, pulling will be great and I can still get around in winter.
So, the question is. How do I go about this? I found a ground force kit that will do a 2/3 drop. I want a bit more... I have heard that 2wd spindles will fit on the 4x4, does anyone know if this is true?
Any help?? I am out of my league here, I have lowered many 2wd's and lifted many 4x4's, but never lowered a 4x4 yet.

If you lower the truck then you need to plan on installing air bags, putting up with a crap ride when towing due to the lack of travel and using a hitch that actually raises the ball above the receiver to get it to an acceptable height.
