Default wheel spacers on dually?

i have a 2011 dodge dually laramie that i am putting a 5" rough country lift. The new tires will be 35x12.50x17 nitto mud grapplers and wheels are 17"x6" rockstar xd's. my question is after the lift was installed the tech ran into some problems installing the tires and wheels. first problem was that the inside tire rubs the bracket put on leaf springs for the lift. My buddy had the same combo put on his truck and they installed a 1/2" steel hubcentric spacer before the first wheel and filed the bracket down some to get the clearance he needed. sounds simple but i would rather not file anything off of the bracket if i didnt have to. the second problem is when ordering spacers from aerocraft the tech was told by aerocraft that they will not sell spacers for xd rockstar wheels as the wheels will break since they are not good quality wheels (he recommended eagle wheels). this guy though since I dropped my truck off a week ago has stated alot of things that do not make any sense though so that is why i am posting here. I have seen dozens of duallys with the same setup so wouldnt kmc recall the wheels if this was an ongoing issue? also should I just go with a 1" spacer before the first wheel/tire instead of 1/2" so no filing would be needed on the bracket of the leaf spring? any help is greatly appreciated

KMC/Rockstar makes wheels for flatbillers - not wheels meant for the duties of a truck. There are plenty of horribly built wheels out there, be glad that you have a tech who is cluing you in on your poor chioce. Google rockstar xd rims cracked some time.

Spacers are bad -buy some quality wheels and tires that fit. Personally I'd be looking at Alcoas for a dually.
