Ball Joints
Hey guys, I'm looking at purchasing a 2010 Dodge Ram sport crew cab with fairly high miles (80k miles / 130,000km). I am just wondering about the ball joints and front end parts in the new gen trucks? I know the older trucks had issues, any reports of early failures in the new style?
Any thing else I should be looking for on a 2010 with that many miles? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!

i don't have enough miles on my truck to answer this yet, but you are right, historically ball joints are a weak point. i am expecting to replace mine at around 40000 miles. if it needs ball joints, just go with a good aftermarket brand. wouldn't let that be a deal breaker for me.
I have 80,000 km (50k miles) on my 2009 Ram Hemi 4WD. Had the front tie rods replaced under a recall (I believe it applies to 2010 models as well) and I had my front sway bar links replaced recently. When sway bar links were replaced the mechanic said the rest of the front end was "nice and tight". I recall the sway bar link replacement was around $350. That's been it for me as far as front end work--in fact, that's pretty much it for repairs in total. Truck has been great and I'd buy another one tomorrow no question.
