I picked up a smittybilt light bar and 2 sets of hella 500 black magic lights... and im definitly no electrician haha so help me out here please.

for those of you who have put lights on the front of your truck.. where did you ground each individual light???

from what i understand the red wire goes to the + post on the batt or on the fuse box
- the black goes to the black wires on the 2 lights
-the yellow runs into the cab plugged into the switch(which of the 3 prongs does it go on????)
- the short blue one is for the ground
- the green one goes from the switch inside the cab to the headlights... where did you guys hook into with this wire?

correct me if im wrong with anything here.. any info would be awesome! thanks in advance everyone

 

Perhaps a member will chime in. I'm NO electrican either so...I paid to have it done.

 

I'm no electrician either but here's a few pictures that might help you. I would recommend putting a relay to power your lights.

As far as your switch goes it should say acc on one prong, that would be to you lights. Then the other 2 are probably + and -. Just make sure you have a fuse with your +. If you put a relay on the wire from the acc on the switch ,it will go to #1 on the relay, or you could just tap into your highbeams wire to activate your relay which would turn on your hellas. It's kind of a flu explanation but i'm just waking up here hahaha. Also you can ground your lights directly on the frame somewhere using a self tapping screw.

If you have 4 lights i would recommend putting 2 relays to your switch, i found another picture that might help you out, just ignore the top relay and the red wire since you would have a 2 way switch.

 

Yup those diagrams cover it pretty good. There are always soo many different ways to wire, but this is probably the easiest for you to understand. I would also recommend putting a relay in for your lights as well. UNLESS the switch you bought is rated for the full amps of each of the lights, it will say so on the switch.

These diagrams say to ground to the battery as well, but I would just do as Interpun said, and just a self tapper to the frame. This way its a direct ground, and has less connections on the battery head...

Instead ofrunning the (green) wire thats suppose to go to the highbeam hot wire i put it on the positive on the fusebox.... And i had the switch hooked up wrong to start that didnt help lol

I extended the ground wires to the bumpers bolts... If ur doing it urself pm me n ill give u some more detail as im on my phone right now n dont type so well with just my thumb lol
