Default Another tire/wheel post, help needed please :)

Ok so I tried searching but since I can't seem to search with terms this short I decided to make a new post

I have a 2011 RAM 1500 ST with 17" OEM wheels and just added a 2.5" level kit.

Time for rims and tires now!

I know I want MT Baja MTZ tires but not sure if I want 17" or 20". I had 20" ones on my last RAM and loved the look but wish I had more sidewall at times.

For weight concerns which would be heavier: 35" tire on 17" rim or 35" tire on 20" rim? Assume both rims are same make (XD Addicts I'm leaning towards).

Also since they are a -14 offset I'm guessing I'll need flares.

One final Q - will there be much diff in fuel Econ between 33" and 35"? I'm not worried about gas much it's just out of curiosity. Or do you guys think since I only have a 2.5" level kit I should stick with 33's?

Thanks in advance!

I like the looks of the larger rim with less sidewall. I sen a nice Cheby yesterday and it had 17's or 18's(sitting in traffic) and the wheels looked outdated because they were so small. So, for street truck, larger wheels, less rubber will look and handle better. For ANY offroading, go with the larger sidewall and smaller wheels for better bite and less chance of wheel rash.

They will be within a few lbs of each other, nothing worth worrying about! Whole discussion between Hammer and myself HERE

Stock 20's have a +19.05mm offset, the difference from +19mm to -14mm is 33.05mm and will push the wheels out 1.3" compared to stock, so I'd say yes you will need them unless you like the wider tire than ffender look which will also sling dirt and mud all up on your paint.

You'll lose MPG's between the level(lifts front end up and makes less aerodynamic) and the larger tires with stock gearing. Talking about 1-2mpg's because if you go 35's your gonna get a beefier tread which hinders MPG as well as the gearing loss of the larger diameter.

I made a thread HERE in 3rd Gen for tire fitment which will help 4th Gen out as well. 2002-2008 20" offset is +19mm and 2009+ have 19.05mm. *******ly no difference. Only thing would be if Dodge completely redesigned the upper a-arm and I dont think they did???
