Default LED Brake Light and Turn Signal Questions

Hey guys...I've searched around the forum, but couldn't find an open thread on this topic.

I have a 2009 Ram 1500 and I'd like to switch my rear brake lights/turn signals and front turn signals from filament bulbs to new LEDs. The last time I dealt with LEDs was about 12 years ago and didn't like them because they caused the turn signals to flash really fast. They were much more expensive back then, but I still don't wanna spend the money if it's gonna do the same thing. I know that they sell a load leveler or regulator that you can splice into the wiring, but I'd rather not do that. I'd like to think that the technology, both in the LEDs and the newer vehicles, has gotten better in the last 12 years.

Has anyone switched to LEDs and if so, have you experienced the rapid flashing or any other electrical anomalies associated with them?

Thanks...

Some have the load resistor built in, some do not. Always ask the seller that you`re buying them from for the spec`s on the lighting unit(s) before you give them any money. The units must have a load equalizer (resistor) so they dont blink to fast. But once you buy the LED`s, you own them, they`re yours. Most retailers will not let you return any electrical parts. Nobody i know of where i live has had ANY luck running LED`s in 09-up dodge trucks. Most LED`s will set off the "bulb out" warning indicator in the dash. The LED`s dont soak up alot of wattage/amps, when the warning systems see`s this low voltage issue, it sets off the bulb out alarm/warning. Maybe some others might chime in here and shed some more light on this subject, all i know is, i wont even bother messing with them. Last but not least, be very careful what LED`s you buy, MOST are cheap chinese made garbage. Half the time when you buy them, if they even work, most are junk and wont even light up when you get them from the sellers. I`ve seen this myself first hand from others that have bought them around here in my neck of the woods.

I went with switch back leds in my front turn signals and have no problems with them. They are a 92 led bulb with half being white for a driving light and the other half being amber for the turn signals and they do not blink fast or give me any bulb out codes.

Jay I was looking at V-LED's site and did you order a CK or Standard type and did you go with 5K, 6K? I am not near my truck right now until tomorrow evening at the earliest to test to see which type I need. I am pretty sure it's a standard.

Thanks Bud

I will say those look BRIGHT as hell in your video. Also how do you like JJ's work over at Retro-Shop?!? Def post pics!!!

I got the standard ones in 6k temp. I will say that they are more white than my 6k hid lights but that is ok. JJ does amazing work. Didn't have a chance to get my camera out today but will try tomorrow and start a new thread so we dont hijack this one anymore.
