From the FSM
REMOVAL

1.Move the mirror into the full down position.

2.Firmly and carefully grasp the mirror at the top (1) and pull out to separate the upper mounting clips.

3.Separate the lower hinge type clips (1) and remove the mirror glass assembly.

4.Disconnect the electrical connectors (2), if equipped.

INSTALLATION

1. Connect the electrical connectors (2), if equipped.

2. Position the mirror glass assembly into the housing and seat the lower hinge type clips (1) fully.

3. Push the top of the glass (1) back into the housing and seat the mounting clips fully.

I had to reinstall mine on the passenger side. As Old Jeep's post says, move the mirror to look all the way down. If you peek in there you can see the metal snaps that hold the top in place. Once you see them you'll see how easy it is to remove the mirror. The bottom ones are just hinges so rotate the top of the mirror down and pull it out. I found that when I put mine back in, I had to rotate the mirror mechanism to the middle position in order for me to snap on the clips.

I found it easier to just replace the mirror assembly. Tried removing heat/power mirrors found the connections insides were all corded and glass compared to mirror assembly with glass cost $111.00 us.

Hope this helps

Kind of depends which mirrors you have, the towing mirrors are $300-$400 a piece and the glass is around $35

How hard did you have to pull down on the glass. I don't wanna break it. Is there any other stuff holding the mirror to the electric motor to move the glass?
