Default Ram Laramie Climate Control Not Working

I have a 2010 Ram CrewCab Laramie with the dual zone climate control and have noticed that when it gets hot outside the AC runs high but ONLY blows a bit of cool air through the footwell vents. Trying to override the auto setting by switching to the manual vent/fan speed settings makes no difference.

Anybody else have this issue? If so, is there a recall out to correct this? I've been to the dealer several times and they cannot replicate the issue. One time it happened I drove to the dealer and showed the service rep. He asked me to bring it back as the only tech on hand was the bodywork guy. I asked him if he would remember the issue and he said that they would have to try and replicate it again. Stupid.

Just happened again the other day (almost 40C outside) and it drives me nuts that after buying a $40K+ truck I have to drive with my windows open trying to get some air. Anybody?

sounds a it similar to the K17 recall - reprogram the HVAC and test the air control actuators. I had it done 2x, mine was bad enough the second time to start knocking and air only came out the floor vent, regardless of air control setting. I have the manual HVAC controls but the service bulletin shows repairs for both.

I'm having a similar problem. I have dual zone climate control also. I did have the recall done a long time ago. I believe it was just a reflash. What's happening now is one of the flappers makes a loud clicking noise and the blowers only work on low speed until I've driven for about 5 minutes. Then they magically start blowing on high. I'm out of warranty with 80k miles. If anyone has any kind of fix for this please let me know.

williams.bigfish69,

Sorry to hear the heat still isn't working.

I looked in the issue further, it seems what you're describing may be related to the K17. If this recall applies to your truck, I'm sure you have had the dealer take a look.

Once you had the blend door accutators replaced, what did the dealer tell you when you realized the heat wasn't working?
