Default What are your thoughts?

The other day I drove home from work with my sunroof open and the rear slide window half open. I got home, parked in the driveway and and locked the truck but later I realized I forgot to close the sunroof and rear window.

Now my question is, wouldn't it be nice to use your key fob to roll up windows and close the sunroof and rear window? This would be similar too the way you use the unlock button to roll down the windows. I wounder what it would take for dodge to create a patch for something like this. Would it even be possible?

Whats your thoughts?

They won't do it. It can be a safety issue.

Think about a kid playing in a car, having their head, arm, leg, etc out the sunroof or windows. Then Mom/Dad goes "shoot, I forgot to put up the windows" grabs the fob and puts them up, hurting the kid in the process.

Yeah but seeing as the dog ate the keys the guy has to pick up the dog, take it outside with him, and be right up close to the car to get in, roll up windows, start the car etc. So the safety issue remains. You would not be able to roll up the windows unless you are up close to the car and could see if some kids noggin was in the window.

We`ve "dumbed down" our country so bad, that we have to put all this safety crap in place.
A good parent will always know what their kids are doing every minute while in and around a vehicle.
Its simple math, pay attention, knowbody gets hurt. People are in to much of a hurry and ignoring safety.
Ignoring safety always makes vehicles cost alot more.

I agree with Lu, You likely wouldn't leave your child/children unattended in your vehicle for a long period of time. Also I think that it would be unlikely that you would roll up your windows via remote while your kids or anyone less were inside the vehicle and the chance of it happening by accident seems unlikely. On top of that, how would it be any different than having the auto roll up thats already apart of your door controls. There are already safety measures put into the front window systems as it is.

I would be quite surprised if we don't see this happen in the 2013s, with the updated computer and power systems...I think the only reason why we don't have it now is its just too much to handle. Its easy to make the windows roll down, because its just one "circuit" and output. However to make them roll up would be little more extensive, and to add to that doing it all over on the sunroof and rear window. Upon window roll up, it would also need to activate those limit switches to allow back the window off. Which might I add would a separate "circuit" or control. Not to mention it is going to have to do that triple because of the sunroof and rear window. Now you also have to conciser that your trying to do this through a remote receiver, where they too only have a certain about of outputs.

Having said that tho, I know the caravans have an output for their power doors and liftgates, so the technology is there. I just don't understand why dodge can't level up their technologies. Even with the 2500/3500s they are always a year behind. I think that the 1500 is a year behind the caravan. So I would be surprised if we didn't see it in the 2013s...

I do also realize that with PLCs anything is possible, but there has got to be something along the lines of remote outputs and controls, otherwise I think dodge would have done it already...

It's a good idea. I haven't tested the trucks sunroof but on my car the glass auto reverses back open if there's an obstruction. Even a garage door will auto reverse so a sunroof or side window shouldn't be an issue. Any yeah, know where your kids are and make sure no one is inside when you close them.
