Default Navigation Update

I have just purchased a 2011 Laramie brand new, so I am the first owner. I wanted to know if anyone has got Chrysler to send them an update for the maps as they were outdated when I bought the truck and I feel I should have the most updated maps at the time of sale. Also I emailed chrysler and they told me to go to my local dealer ( I am still waiting to hear back from them) and they said that the update is from Garmin but I have the 730n nav (which I told them), and I didn't think this was the Garmin Nav.

I might be wrong, but I thought the 730n was the new model number for the RER units which use NavTeq.

Hopefully your unit does use Garmin. Seems like they're a little more willing to cough up updates than NavTeq is. I've got a separate Garmin GPS for my wife's car, and even though the unit is 7+ years old they've given me updates several times on it with no charge and not too many questions.

The opposite is true on the NavTeq powered RER in my 2009 RAM. I've chatted with them a couple of times and they're none to willing to give a free update. Heck, they don't even offer small discounts for the typical groups (military, fire fighter, etc.).

I think you're going down the right route with the dealer. Just keep pressing them and hopefully they'll help you out.

Good luck.
