Default Heated Seats not working with Remote Start

Its cold and now that I am using my remote start, I noticed that my heated seats and steering wheel is not coming on when I activate the remove start. Are they suppose to? The cooled seats always came on during the summer with the remove start and I assume the heated seats should as well. I have the option selected for comfort system on with remove start in the driver information center. Is there a problem or something else I need to do?

Thanks!

Do they not come on, or just don't warm up much?

I suspected the same thing with mine as the seats didn't seem particularly warm when I started the truck up in cold weather (-20F).

If the lights come on, the seats and wheel ARE working, but in really cold weather won't really feel warm until you are sitting on the seat so that the heater can be "insulated" somewhat.

Thanks for the quick reply.

No they are not coming on at all. The lights are not on. I can turn them on manualy when I get in the truck, but they are not coming on automatically.

I believe that a lot of the trucks features are disabled with the remote start until you put the fob in the ignition (ie wipers, etc).

Could the seats be one such item that is disabled until the fob is in? Doesn't make sense but just tossing it out there....

There is also a temperature bogey in there. If it's not cold enough, they won't come on automatically.

Mine do not come on with remote start either. I believe all the electrical is off until you stick the fob in. I believe all that stuff runs through the ignition switch. So unless the switch is in the correct position....Nothing. Keeps the wiper motor safe, the radio off so it isn't blaring, the seat heaters off etc.

This. If conditions are right the heated driver's seat will turn on with remote start. But it isn't always consistent.

It pisses me off so much that Chrysler (and probably other makers) have gone to electronic switches for heated seats instead of something physical that you can just leave always on. My first Grand Cherokee and my IS300 had physical switches. I just left them on all winter and didn't have to F with them every time I get in the vehicle. The other thing that ticks me off is the auto reduction in temp level over time. If I turned the damn thing on high leave it on high until I'm ready to change it myself.

In my 09 it has to get down to 41 F. for the seat and steering handle heaters to come on.

Yes, it depends on temperature and therefore your definition of cold. Next week our highs are supposed to be around 10. Not ready for this yet.

The heated seats and steering wheel feature have to be activated thru the EVIC make sure there is a check mark beside this feature to enable it.
