Default (Yet Another) Tire Fitament Question: 315s

So I have spent the last hour and a bit searching the 4th Gen forums for 315/70/17 and 315/70R17 and have not been able to find a definitive answer to my question.

Will a 315/70/17 tire on a stock 17" wheel clear the inside components (spring, UCA, LCA, etc) of the truck?

I have the Bilstiens in the front of my TRX maxed out so I have the height - there doesn't seem to be any debate on the tire fitting that way. But there is little to clarify if the stock wheel will clear the components.

A tire shop and the local Chrysler dealership *think* that it will fit on the stock wheel without rubbing.

I really want to know in advance since it may affect what tires I buy. I wanted the Goodyear Duratrac in the 315/70/17 however if they will not fit then the next size down is 285/70/17 which is not much bigger than my stock 275/70/17's.

There are a few reasons why I do not want to purchase new rims at this time.. cost is one and the fact that road salt will chew the machined ones up (which is the style I want: black/machined). I do not want to get into swapping wheels over the summer/winter - I really hate that.

So if someone could confirm whether the 315/70/17 will fit without rubbing on stock wheels I would really appreciate it.

Seeing as no one has an answer to this... how about a new one:

What is the stock offset of the 17" wheel?

And what would be a reasonable offset to consider if I went to 315's?

I have that tire size on a 17 factory wheel and had to use a 1/4 spacer. Then I got 1.5 spacers, then ditched those for 3 inch lift spindles and no spacer.

Thanks. I was thinking I would need a spacer for sure after doing more checking and some calculations on the tire width. I might go with spacers or just bite the bullet and get a new set of wheels with a -12 offset or something like that.
