Default Doing away with the warrantee

My local dealer is trying to get me to trade for a 2012 or 2013.
They offer me 500 plus another 500 dollars because it is a 09 on top of the trade-in offer.
Is it so they can sell my 2009 w/o the lifetime warrantee?
What do you guys think?
Jack

I received this advertisement in the mail last week too, an extra $500 for '09 with original owner lifetime powertrain warranty.

They're going to have to offer a hell of a lot more to give up a lifetime powertrain warranty, lol! Unless you're improving upon model or options, on top of a reasonable trade-in value, I'd be slightly hesitant.

Yes, the powertrain warranty applies only to the first original owner.

Did they price you an extended powertrain service contract on whatever new one you bought? That would be something to factor into the math.

And do you really want to start all over making payments again.....when you already have a lifetime powertrain.

Why? What would you get in a newer version of exactly the same truck except more $$$ out of pocket?

My truck ('09) is paid off in two months. But I won't trade it in. I am going to save the payments I was making for a year or so and get a Challenger..or a 'Cuda. Whatever it is gonna be....

Oldjeep,,,unless it's a 3/4 ton. If you remember there was a lag in turning over the newer design. Buddy/neighbor rushed out and traded his Ford in (last part of '09) when he learned that they were going to drop the life time warrenty ~~~ paid to have the dealer go 3 states away to get it. Climbed into mine and really like the changes that they made on the new one, but would not trade to give up that warrenty. His two complants~~~is the rule of time span between oil changes. He retired and now does not put the millage verses the time limit. And the advertised 20 miles per gallon, on the highway the best he has ever got is 13 mpg. 378 rear end.
