Default Defective lifter resolved. Dealer and DodgeCACares step up.

I previously posted about a hydraulic lifter that failed in my 2009 Ram Hemi with 110,000 km on it. Canadian powertrain warranty is only 100,000 km. Local dealer quoted $2,200.00 for repair. I called the dealer I bought the truck from and they agreed to do the job for around half the cost quoted by the other dealer. I took the truck to them.

Service manager met with me and said they would do the job at cost. DodgeCACares (Canada) saw my posts on this site and contacted me as well. They were in touch with the dealer and Chrysler Canada agreed to step up and contribute to the balance of the repair cost.

Perhaps the best part of this, is that the dealer repaired the truck and let me take it...without charging me. They said they would wait to see what transpired with Chrysler Canada. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Service manager called me today and said total cost to me would be $200.00 plus tax. Essentially, a "deductible".

I hope I'm allowed to mention the dealership here because the treatment I received was outstanding and they deserve the recognition: Menzies Chrysler in Whitby, Ontario. Thanks also to Katie of Chrysler Canada (DodgeCACares on this board) for contacting me and her assistance.

Agreed. Nice to see you did not get hosed a big one. I still think its chicken **** that Canadians don't get the full 100k mile warranty on powertrain.

Agreed. We typically pay more for our vehicles, and I can't see any justification for less warranty coverage.

I am glad to hear that your problem was taken care of and Chrysler stepped up and worked with you on it.

I learned a little bit here about the newer type lifters on the engines from this, in the old days you knew when you had a bad lifter or bent push rod, the sound was pretty unmistakable. Obviously it is not so clear cut nowadays.

It would seem this problem is very rare given Chrysler's quick interest in this.
