I hate to beat the topic up again .... Magnaflow Exhaust
I bought the MagnaFlow 13278. 3" inlet: dual 2 1/4 outlet to replace my factory muffler on my hemi big horn with factory duals. The mufflers $67 at Summit Racing. The muffler shop charged me $140 including muffler total to install. I like it. I left the resonators so the drone wouldn't be so pronounced. After a month I still like it. It barks more on start up. Has a mellow idle. Not all that noticeable until you get on it. Nice cheap upgrade. To heck with paying $700 for a cat back to accomplish the same thing.
For the record. The drone only happens when I'm in town maintaining speed for x amount of timr and the mds kicks in. It's hardly noticeable at highway speeds 60-70. Much of the research I did said they wished they left the resonators on or in place because its much more noticeable in the cab. I'm not a hillbilly or a kid that needs to hear it like some people do with car subwoofers. Everything in moderation.
I'm ordering the same magnaflow muffler that allmytdrunken1 has. I have the factory duals and am looking for some tips cuz mine don't look the greatest right now. Thought about the mufflex tips since they look similar to the factory ones. I think OEM tips are pretty pricey!
Most muffler shops carry a large variety of tips. Stainless is a higher cost option that I highly recommend. They usually have an abundance of circle, angled, rolled, slash cut, different lengths and size tips. At least the past few shops I've been to did. When you go just bring cash. They like that! For example I did the exhaust on my previous truck. A 04 4.7 dakota. Flowmaster single in dual out with sst rolled tips was $200. My ram was $140 for muffler and welded in, new tips would've been another $50 including installation. So remember when you go money talks. And btw. The shop I went to had the muffler i used in stock. Might be able to do what I did and get it all done right then and there.
