Do you ave to have 4x4? I have a friend who just purchased a NEW Quad Cab 5.7 EXPRESS for $24,000 with super interest rates on financing. I paid $24k for mine in my sig in 2009. BOTH of those used trucks are priced fairly. Fuel mileage will be about the same in both.

Where I live, I definitely would get the 4x4 as we get plenty of snow. (Last week had got something around 10".)

Just out of curosity, how is it that the 5.7L and the 4.7L get roughly the same MPGs? Shouldn't the 4.7L be at least slightly better? I know the 6.0L vs the 5.3L Chevys its night and day difference with MPGs...

Thanks!

I am looking for a truck that I would be able to do some of the "advanced" maintenance items such as the brakes, spark plugs, etc. How easy are these trucks to work on?

If your not going to be towing that much and want a truck with good mpg. Hold out and buy a 4.7l flex fuel. The mpg between it and a hemi IS night and day. The flex fuel gets up to 25mpgs at times where as a hemi would have to be downhill with wind! Driving in town the hemi drinks fuel like an alcoholic. The 4.7 is much more economic. If I didn't have a camper to haul I definitely would of got the qc 4.7 flex fuel. Go drive each of them for a day. Keep them overnight. The dealer should be more than willing to let you.

Most owners report 20 to 21 Hiway MPG with Hemis. My 2wd is always around 19/20 and I drive rural 2 lanes, some interstate etc. It didn't do that new. In town depends on what is called 'in town'. That 4.7 advertised is not a bad deal and a lot lower miles.

"In town" for me is cold start ups in winter driving less than 10-15 minutes away to a friends house, school, grocery store, my 6 mile commute to work. 14 mpg all day. It doesn't get near 19/20 until you have driven with the cruise on for more than 10 miles. Once you arrive back into stop n go traffic you're back in the 14 mpg zone. And that's if you drive conservatively. Put your foot in it, or go above speed limit 20 mpg isn't happening with a hemi 4x4 with mds. 4.7 does a lot better mpg wise. From my experience that's all I can say.

I've never owned a 4.7. All I know is what I read. If you have owned one you know far better then I.
