Is this with the AC compressor running or not running?

When Chrysler started using engine computers to control the AC compressor, they installed a zener diode inline to prevent possible spikes from the coil de-energizing. When they started using TIPMs, the zener diode disappeared from the wiring diagrams. I can only assume one is still used because electricity hasn't changed. I am not sure if it is in the coil assembly or on the TIPM circuit board. It's something I admit I have never needed to look into so far.

Anyway, the reason I ask is that one thing that happens when you go to WOT is AC compressor operation is interrupted (by design). You may be getting a small spike from it being disengaged. It may be completely normal, of course I can't see it happen so I couldn't tell you if it's excessive or not. It's one of those things I don't know if anyone ever pays attention to, especially if it's subtle.

adventurer, our headlamps use PWM, when there is a draw in the electrical system, like the AC kicking in, or traction control, (which uses your ABS modulator), it will use quite a bit of voltage, which in turn instead of dimming the headlamps due to a voltage draw, PWM will flicker (blinks). Unfortunely it is normal on our vehicles with the PWM, which should not be noticeable to the human eye, but if you look at your headlamps long enough, you'll notice, but don't get blind looking at them. Lol.

My wife's brand new CRV was doing the same thing. Replaced the battery and that didn't fix the problem. The dealer called us and told us to bring it in that they've had problems with the ground wire not making contact on some cars. The ground wire from the battery to the frame was striped and covered with paint and not making good contact. They re-tapped it and the problem went away. Check all your grounds and make sure they have good contact. Hopefully it's something simple.
