Blend door actuator again
Yup it is a BS recall (partly anyway)
All chrysler engineering has to do is change the programming so that the blend doors dont do their "self calibration" sweep on start up everytime.
Reason for this? Condensation...
Example: Its winter, -30 C, you fire your truck up and get in it 10 minutes later and drive away. By the time you get to where you're going its nice and toasty inside... then you shut er down and the temp inside drops again.
This is where any condensation in the HVAC system freezes up the gears on the blend door actuators. So next time you start your truck and the blend doors do their sweep, CRRRRRRACK! There you go, broken blend door actuator

I just took my 2009 Ram into the dealer for this problem. I took a copy of the K17 recall. I had already taken it in to the dealer in 2010 when I got the recall. They said it was a "different actuator" than was covered under the recall?? I have 25,000 miles on my truck but the time is up on my warranty. They charged me $90 to fix. Not bad but am I going to have to replace the actuators every 10 to 15,000 miles? I sent a copy of my invoice to the address on the recall. We'll see if they pay it.
