Main Difference between Laramie and Big Horn is Big Horn can be had with premium bench seat, Laramie can't, Laramie has the soft feel dash. Not saying that is alll but that is the main part from what I seen

I ordered a "fully loaded" 2010 QC 4x4 hemi sport, with the console shifter. (i ordered it w/special FACTORY ordered "black-out" code interior, everything is all done in black inside...everything...! The black-out option at the time couldnt be bought without the console and floor shifter, THAT was part of the order code back then, otherwise i wouldnt have bought it with a console. Total interior black-out is not an available option on Laramie`s, sport option only when i bought mine) Anyhow, after owning it awhile, i`d give my right nut for the premium bench seat. I hate this console AND the shifter. No leg room in these 4th gen trucks... the console is way to big/wide. If you`re a big guy, i`d steer away from buying one of these trucks with a console.

Also, i dont know how many people have noticed, but when they went to these 4th gen trucks, they got smaller in size compared to the 3rd gen trucks. If some of you dont believe me, go measure a 3rd gen quad cab truck, from the front leading edge of the front door to the back of the rear door, then compare it to the 4th gen quad cab trucks, you`ll see what i meen. The 4th gen overall size of the cabs are even smaller than the 3rd gen truck cabs...! Ok, sorry, didnt meen to get off track here.

I've got the Big Horn package and I'm not a small guy. The console doesn't seem to get in way, but it is pretty wide. I actually like the console shift. The only issue I have with the console is it creaks from moving or expanding plastic, usually as the interior is warming up. I've moved the whole console rearward to keep it from contacting the center stack bezel and that's improved it. The shifter does have a less than premium feel to it.

As far as interior size my youngest son recent bought a '99 Ram so I'll compare it. Now I am short legged, but my knees are awful close to the dash in mine. Sometimes the keys rub across the top of my leg. I wish my 2010 had a telescoping steering wheel.

Chris,

According to the Ram website Build & Spec, there's no more dual exhaust option on the Big Horn Package?

Is that true?

Best regards,
Dusty

I only compared the 3rd gen (02 to 08) against the 4th gen, thats the one i compared it to. Even though i owned a 2000 dodge ram, (which is identicle to the 99 dodge rams you speak of) i dont know the differences the 99 to 01 have against the 3rd & 4th gen QC trucks. Anyhow, my brother has an 08 3rd gen 4x4 qc, so we got looking at them side by side, and we could see quite a bit of differences between the two trucks, so we got out the measuring sticks an started seeing the differences. In some ways, i wish i had kept my 3rd gen hemi truck..lol. I was actually alot more comfortable when driving it over both my 4th gen trucks. I do like the interior looks and the nice plush ride of the 4th gen, but thats about it. The 4th gen seemed to change drastically with where they relocated the steering wheel compared to where they located the brake & gas pedal... pedals moved closer to you, steering wheel much harder to reach (meening firther away from you) An asian person would fit perfect in the 4th gen trucks...lol. And YES, i wish these trucks came with a telescopic steering wheel. Toyota`s have that option...!! But i wont buy a boyota, thats not a mans truck..! And yeah i agree, whats up with the cheezy feeling shifters in these hemi trucks anyway...lol

I have a 09 Laramie Crew Cab with bucket seats and the column shifter,I am 6 ft. tall and have more than enough room in the front seat, my buddies are all the same size as me and when we go golfing they are not cramped in the back seat, 2 are 010 Gm guys with CC and they say there is more room in my cab than theres, that's why we take my unit,I also have the power adjustable pedals that would be an assett to a smaller or shorter guy in the legs.

At 5' 7" I have the legs of a four-footer and in order to get close enough to operate the pedals comfortably, I'm too close to the dash. In the summer time with lighter clothing it's not quite so bad.

This winter has finally revealed moving plastic and some dash rattles, something I didn't have in my eight year-old Dakota. The multi-piece door panels move enough to cause snapping sounds on pavement breaks until the cabin warms. The center stack and instrument cluster bezel creaks. And I can hear the clock-spring winding up as I make turns. I asked others if they have had any of these little flaws pop up and all but one has said "no," although I've heard complaints about the noisy clock-spring.

My son says I'm too fussy and competitive trucks have the same issues. I've been in some that do and some that don't. These kind of things have an impact on perceived quality even though the Ram is otherwise one exceptionally solid truck. I most certainly can't complain about reliability.

Regards,
Dusty
