Default Bought Piaa xtreme white bulbs. THEY SUCK!

So I made the purchase and bought the Piaa Xtreme bulbs and the night bulbs for a total with tax $196.00

I have to say they absolutely suck! I read many reviews online and they said they were great bulbs. After the install I went out at night on our dark highway and noticed NO difference between my ****ty stock bulbs and the Piaas. If I didn't have to pay to have them installed I would take them out and get return them! What a waste of money!

If you don't want to drop in HIDs then in my opinion the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs are the best bang for the buck upgrade over stock.

$196 bucks = OUCH...!!!!!!!!!!!!

RamTRX
I myself, luckly already know the PIAA`s suck, which is the exact reason i would never buy them, (in the USA) its too bad you got screwed on them. (and they sure as hell dont last very long either) I have no idea why alot of people think they are better, because they really aren`t. They are very highly over rated... and they surely DONT put out the wattage that the europeon versions have, so the lighting ability in the USA version bulbs are never going to do much better than a OEM factory bulb(s). PIAA sells in europe very well, but they run ALOT higher wattage`s over there because they can.... SOOOOOO, more wattage, meens ALOT more brighter lighting distances. BUT, here in the USA, we cant run high wattage bulbs, its illegal here. So when you concider everyone here in the USA, reads into all that europeon BS, think they are great bulbs because the europeon`s say they can see 10 figgin miles down the road at night. Well YEAHHHHHHHHH, SURE YOU WILL if you`re runnin the wattage they can run in europe...!!!

I agree with BigBlueEdge, i bought the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs. (i bought mine off egay, i got very lucky, i got them dirt cheap @ $15 a pair) They`re ok, but i`m not that totally impressed with them either. The silverstars have a slight blue hue to the bulb, which is not what you want in a headlight bulb. Blue hue AND blue tinted bulbs actually cancel white light. Thats why the fancy blue looking bulbs ALL suck. You`re loosing valuable lighting by using ANY blue tint bulbs. Stick with the OEM clear bulbs, they do just fine, and you`ll save a ton of money in the process.

If you have fog lights on your truck, you can step those up to #9155 bulbs (OEM are #9145 which is 45watt) The #9155 bulbs are 55watt, you`ll be impressed, they really do help. If you REALLY want to light up the fog lights to help you drive at night, you can actually use the OEM hi-beam bulbs in the foglights. That bulb is #9005 and its 65watts. The base and connection is the same exact as the #9145/9155 bulbs. I dont recommend doing it though, the foglight wiring isnt heavy enough in my opinion to run them continually for long periods of time. I`ve been running the #9155 in mine for a long time now, never an issue ever.

If you want to step up both low beams AND hi-beams on the wattage, be careful how high you go with them, it can raise hell with the TIPM in these trucks today. If the computor see`s out of spec wattage/current being drawn, it will shut the headlight circut down, your headlights will definatley go out. You could also go with HID and projectors, but you are going to spend a BOATLOAD of money doing so. And forget the ebay projectors, 99% of those are ALL chinese made and they are garbage. Ask a few people on here about that, they`ll tell you stay away from them.

I dont know of any other way to really make these headlights work in the newer vehicles today... the fed/gov traffic highway safety board has made ALL the manufactures set all the headlights with a givin cut off point. This makes it alot safer to oncoming traffic... BUT, you lose ALOT of light with said cut-off points mixed into it today. The Ram & Ford trucks seem to suffer the worst today, headlight cutoff really sucks.

Just curious.... have you tried to adjust your headlights lower/higher...??? Ther is an adjustment for up and down, it is under the hood. (no side to side adjustment, just up/down) You`ll see a embossed arrow on the inner fender, a hole right in front of the arrow. Use a 7mm socket, extention, rachet to adjust. Clockwise raise`s them, counter clockwise lowers them.

Thats what my 2008 came with from the factory. Makes a big difference with them on versus off.

Also, as far as all these aftermarket brighter than stock bulbs go.... ALLLLLLLL of them are overdriven! Meaning they draw more amperage which severely reduces their lifespan. Technically they are not legal even though they market them as being so. Some draw so much amperage they melt the stock wiring on some vehicles.

The problem with them is this: People expect a world of sifference change. When they get a mere 10% increase it's not near enough to notice really and they are dissatisfied.
That 10% increase reduces the bulbs effective life by half!

Chris,

keep an eye on the socket and the wiring, they WILL get melted if not careful bro. Chrysler use`s all sorts of vendors due to supply and demand, so with sayin that, some trucks arrive with different thickness`s overall throughout all the connectors AND wiring. Not all connectors are created equal, neither is the wiring out there. Thats why some people use them without failure, and some dont. I would at least add the Hi-Temp ceramic connectors. You can find the Hi-Temp ceramic connectors all over egay, and they pretty cheap too... plug-n-play. (if you cant find them, i`ll email a link to them to you) As it is right now, the foglight housings seem to handle the 65watt (9005) bulbs without much problem. It IS a small housing though, heat from the 65watt bulbs may take its toll in time eventually. Have a buddy here that put HID bulbs in, he noticed the next day his foglight housings were dripping off the bumper...lol. Can we say HOTTTTTTTT...!!! yep sure thing...lol. Not sure what HID bulbs he had used in them, but he dang sure didnt do that again....hahahahahaaaa.

If you could email me a link to the hi-temp connectors I'd love to put my stock lights in my foglights. Actually I find the fog lights brighter than my headlights! I am really pissed off that I spent $200 on bulbs that pretty much did f-all. And I am even more pissed that Dodge made it so damn hard to replace the damn things. I need to find a good tutorial on how to take them apart because I might just do that and take them back and get my $200 back!

I had those bulbs years back, they are no better than silverstars. HID's are the only way to go, I dont care what anyone says. I even sold my last boss into puttin HID's on his truck. I pulled in early one morning and he goes "man I need those bulbs, where did you get them?!?"
