Thanks for the link, but it seems they are out of stock. It seems you all are out of comments and I will have to digest the info and put together a plan to present to the uninformed service writer.

Thanks to all who responded.

No, he is saying that even though he worded it incorrectly that everyone should already know what he meant (what I posted).

It's all semantics, you need both the truck and the FOBS to work together. The link was provided to clear up the discussion about the FOBs programming question. Since your truck does not have remote start, the warranty will only cover the replacement "equivalent" module (unless you can work something out with the dealer). The FOB in the link with remote start will not work with the "replacement equivalent" module. What DodgeCares was suggesting, is that instead of getting the bad module repaired under warranty and buy the 2 FOBS, it may be cheaper to just have the dealer install a remote start module kit. It comes with 2 FOBS. So if you spend $100 deductible for the module, plus the $350 on FOBs plus any additional programming costs, you are at least $450 into the repair and don't have remote start. The remote start kit installation may be cheaper way to go and you gain remote start.

My 2 cents on this is that you may end up with the same intermittent issue to are trying to correct. My FOBS are flaky also as are a bunch of others on this forum. How does the dealer know that you have a bad module? They may be just guessing and trying to placate you. To me the design is plain deficient so unless they change the design you may not get your money's worth.

Thanks for the reply, but I do not follow you. Let me try one more time!

The dealer said the receiver, (WCM), is bad. Both the remotes will only work part time. They will replace the unit under warranty, but I will have to buy 2 new remotes as mine are bad and can not be reprogramed. My problem is the remotes. His explanation that some sort of outside signal destroyed the remotes ability to be reprogramed. I find this response not acceptable as do most others. It is just BS to sell $350 worth of new remotes and I picked up the truck 5 minutes later and have been opening the doors with the "hidden" key and starting the truck with the FOB for the past 3 days.

I do not need remote start, I need to know why I need 2 new remote when mine still work but the receiver does not.

Again I really appreciate all of everyone's help but I need to justify spending the money for the repair.

If I take your FOB (already mated to your truck) with the same part number as someone else's FOB, and try to program your FOB to their vehicle, it will fail. So, yes it's actually both ways. However, as Pedro said...semantics.

I had the WCM replaced about 13 months ago. So what you are telling me is at that time I was given two new FOBS to go along with the new WCM?

If this is the case then I will apologize to the service writer for calling him an idiot but not for being ugly.
