Default new dodge owner with a vin question

hey guys i am a proud new owner of a 2013 dodge ram crew cab 4x4 and i was hoping you could help me figure something out. where can i find out what kind of rear end i have, like a 3.22 or a 3.55 and also how can i tell if i have a rear locking differential? would the vin number tell me that kind of info? if so where would i go to have it decoded? thanks

Easy to do. call any Ram dealer (parts/service dept.) and give them the vin number, I think all they need is the last 8 digits of your Ram, but they will tell you. From that the dealer can give you the axle ratio.

cheers

Just look on the window tag - diff ratio should be on it. Or look at the diff tag, should be there too.

You should be able to add your VIN to the end of this URL and pull up a copy of the window sticker for your vehicle. The sticker should reference the axle ratio. This won't work for older trucks because they purge the vehicle out of the system after a while.

The best method for piece of mind is to check the rear end itself. Should be a white sticker with either 3.21, 3.55 or 3.92 pasted on it along with other information.

Was reading on anther forum that there is some confusion as to which rear was put into trucks versus what was standard and what was printed or not printed on the window sticker.
