Just make sure you look over what you are actually getting and see if you can live without features that come standard on even the plainest car.
I have to agree with ARP1500 here, my Express has everything I wanted, it's got the Hemi, power windows, power locks, cruise, tilt, AC, AM/FM/Sirius, the manual seats are great, they are very comfortable, has carpet. I also like the looks of color matched bumpers. I didn't want any chrome. It also got the 20" wheels. It's a very nice truck, and mine was $25,500 out the door.
ARP1500, build the truck YOU want. It sounds like a great truck to me, I'm a little bias though, I used to own a 1994 Lightning, it was a 2wd, 351, short bed truck.
I'm sure you will love the truck!
I'm sending you a PM as well.

i drive the new trucks all the time, the interior is very nice, the best in the business. they also ride better than anything else, almost like a car and they still handle. i don't know the hemi mileage but we drove a 6 cylinder ram 45 miles and put in $7.82. (gas is over $5.00 up here). they refined the front making it smoother so i can see it getting better mileage all around. i think i would go for the 8 speed.
