You could just have them do a regional and national search for the truck you want and get them to transfer it in.

Go to Ramtrucks.com and do a inventory search for the truck you want. Most dealers will do dealer trades from almost anywhere in the continental U.S. Just realize that you will be getting the vehicle with how ever many miles it takes to drive it back to your dealership.

Dealerships are often allotted a certain amount of trucks that they can order. If the dealership has already ordered their total allotment, they will not be able to order more even if the ordering period has not closed yet.

The bottom line is that if you wait until ordering is just about to close, you can run into all sorts of restrictions. Colors may be unavailable, packages may be changed due to parts constraints, etc.. That's not to say that restrictions are not there throughout the year, because they certainly are, but when it comes down to buildout of the model year, more can pop up. This is especially true when colors or options are changing for the next year.

The hardest part is that the Ram Truck site gives you "matches" and I want a crew cab with a 6'4" bed and most "matches" aren't. I know that it is a new option but I figured for the cost difference the dealers would order crew cab 6'4" beds instead of crew cab 5'7" beds.

That is why you have the dealer do the search. We get most of our vehicles this way, just have one of the local dealers pull what we want from someone else's stock.

I didn't plan on waiting till the last minute. But my truck deal fell through at the last min. And then when i asked 3 different dealers when is the last day to order they didnt know and really didnt bother to find out. Got the same ol song/dance, I'll get back with ya on that, let me make a few calls. And still to this day I haven't heard back from them. Over 2wks ago!!!!!

Pretty sad that I know by internet before they do!!!!!

I've done the search and they have also, but I'm looking for a needle in a hay stack for a Crew Cab w a 8' box. They just don't order long boxes for their lot anymore. Not a big demand for them out there.

You could help yourself a little and remove the side steps and bed liner options. Both are easily installed at the dealer once you've found the truck. I'm not saying that'll help you much, but at least some.

Any specific reason for the Outdoorsman? Have you thought about the same colors and options on a BigHorn/LoneStar or an Express?

Do you know if the Rambox is even offered in the longer bed? Not saying it isn't, just wondering if that might be the reason you can't find one...
