I just bought a 2013 ram 1500 SXT and it comes with the uconnect 3 installed. I asked the dealer if it is able to be upgraded to the uconnect 5 or 8 later down the line but they are not sure. Anyone here have experience with this? Seems like you would need a new dash at minimum as well.

 

There was a post on here from a service bulletin. It said for 2013, whatever radio came with the vehicle, you are stuck with. The reason is the hardware install at the factory for each progressive radio upgrade is different.

The only exception was activating the Nav function on an 8.4, at a later date with a software flash.

I have the 3.0 and I am waiting for the aftermarket to catch up with the new Ram electronics so I can add a Kenwood Nav head unit....
