Default Ram recall M34 rear end

Just had M34 pinion nut / rear differential recall completed today 7/1/13. Dealer received appropriate parts 6/28/13 and I was immediately notified. The nut was replaced and no damage on my Ram but my dealer stated to me they have repaired several Ram's and had major damage, so check with your dealers and see if repair parts are available.

Ther seems to be some confusion among truck owners and dealerships... ther are 2 different recall numbers N08 & M34 It took my dealership awhile to figure out which differential recall i needed. Mine said N08 so they installed the retainer over the pinion nut. Ten minutes and i was out the door.
So, did you happen to get a chance to actually see the parts in the recall box BEFORE they installed them...??? If so, can you describe in here what everything looked like...? And what was the actual "part number" on the box that the recall parts came in...? That info should be on your paperwork they gave you after it was done.

LU229, On the M34 I did not physically see the pinion nut retainer. The M34 retainer part # is CBHKM342AA rear pinion nut retainer. As far as the N08 vs M34, the M34 is some 09' & 10' Ram 1500's & Dakota's with the corporate 9.25 axle. It is my understanding the N08 expanded to include the 09' Dodge Aspen & some 09' through 12' Ram 1500's & Dodge Dakota's with the 9.25 corporate axle. I went back in my truck records and this is what the service dept told me when I got an oil change/rotation a while ago and wrote it down.

Thank you TRX4, i had this info wrote down when i left the dealership, BUTTTT, somewhere between there and home, the info decided it didnt like the smooth ride of my truck apparently and went some other direction...lol. The CBHKM342AA is the one they installed in my truck. Thanks again, much appreciated...!

More than happy to assist. Just be aware the M34/N08 repair part is still in limited quantity for delivery to dealerships. My dealer just received a few so I am lucky I received mine.

My dealer only had 2 kits on the day i stopped by to ask about it again, so i concider myself lucky that they actually had the recall kit there. The tough part was, i had to describe to them what the parts kit was for. (go figure) They had no clue about the recall and what needed to be checked/performed. I`ll chalk that up to being the first guy in their shop to have it done. (CHRYSLER, EDUCATE/TRAIN YOUR DEALERSHIP`S...!)
As for my pinion nut falling off, i highly doubt that it would have... the nut itself and the pinion threads that are slightly exposed are so badly rusted that i dont really believe it would have loosend up. I`ll leave it at the term, "rusty loctite" kept it from coming off...lol.
