Ram recall M34 rear end
Just had M34 pinion nut / rear differential recall completed today 7/1/13. Dealer received appropriate parts 6/28/13 and I was immediately notified. The nut was replaced and no damage on my Ram but my dealer stated to me they have repaired several Ram's and had major damage, so check with your dealers and see if repair parts are available.

So, did you happen to get a chance to actually see the parts in the recall box BEFORE they installed them...??? If so, can you describe in here what everything looked like...? And what was the actual "part number" on the box that the recall parts came in...? That info should be on your paperwork they gave you after it was done.
LU229, On the M34 I did not physically see the pinion nut retainer. The M34 retainer part # is CBHKM342AA rear pinion nut retainer. As far as the N08 vs M34, the M34 is some 09' & 10' Ram 1500's & Dakota's with the corporate 9.25 axle. It is my understanding the N08 expanded to include the 09' Dodge Aspen & some 09' through 12' Ram 1500's & Dodge Dakota's with the 9.25 corporate axle. I went back in my truck records and this is what the service dept told me when I got an oil change/rotation a while ago and wrote it down.

More than happy to assist. Just be aware the M34/N08 repair part is still in limited quantity for delivery to dealerships. My dealer just received a few so I am lucky I received mine.
As for my pinion nut falling off, i highly doubt that it would have... the nut itself and the pinion threads that are slightly exposed are so badly rusted that i dont really believe it would have loosend up. I`ll leave it at the term, "rusty loctite" kept it from coming off...lol.
