Smile Ram 2011 pinion nut N08 recall

Hello, I took my truck to the dealer to have this recall fixed and it didn't take long however on my way home there is a slight vibration between 55mph and 65mph and it smooths back out at 65mph. It feels like maybe I have a tire slightly out of balance but was wondering if the repair they made for the pinion nut recall might be the problem that is giving me a slight vibration between 55mph and 65mph. Does anybody have any feedback on this issue? I did not notice the vibration on the way to the dealership.

Thank you,
Rambo9

Give the dealer a call back or take vehicle back to the dealer and speak with the Service Manager and explain what you are experiencing. The dealer can review the issue further and advise if issue is related to the recall repair or not.

I had a sit down with the Chrysler service manager and a test drive.

He has given me assurances that I will be covered after my 5 year warranty is up due to the long and documented history.

Warranty runs out Feb 28 and I have the trucked scheduled for diff number 4 Feb. 17. I figured I'd get the trani and transfer case fluid changed at the same time.....give them a chance to have a look before the warranty was up.

I'm having minor surgery and will be out of commission for 2 weeks so they will keep the truck for at least a week to fix and test.

Hopefully this will be the LAST time for this problem.

This will be 6 diffs on 2 trucks over the last 3 years!
Diff number 4 has been done.

This time they went to great lengths to measure everything and to paint the gears before and after.

Turns out 0.005 worth of shim was missing for the pinion depth.

Missed that 3 other times.

So now the truck has 90,000 kms and the warranty runs out in 10 days.

I truly hope that this is the LAST time.

I had the N08 done on my 09 today. Pinion nut retainer installed. Hopefully that's all it needed.

As it turns out....there was a 2 year warranty on the warranty repair.

Good thing... because it is back in the dealership for yet another diff howl...looking at another partial rebuild.
I'll update when I know more.

Day 8.

Still in the shop.

A couple of bearings are BACKORDER. Seriously? Bearings are bearings.....but noooo....must say MOPAR on the box which will probably guarantee early failure.

April 12 is the promise, at the moment.

I got my truck back yesterday afternoon....5 days early.

It was a $2200.00 repair....under warranty of the last warranty repair which cost $2800.

So Chrysler has about $8800 total into warranty repairs just on my differential!

They should have heeded my advice when I first complained....

"A brand new diff might save us both time"

So.....the warranty clock starts at 0 again....hopefully NEVER to be revisited.
