We Heard You: Uconnect Enhancements Rolling Out

You speak, we listen. You want improved voice recognition technology. Done! You want better speed and accuracy. Got it!

Chrysler Group listens to Uconnect customers and has responded with a software update for vehicles equipped with Uconnect 8.4AN and 8.4A systems, including 2013 & 2014 Ram Trucks and SRT Vipers and 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. The update is designed to enrich the Uconnect user experience by keeping the system as technically advanced as possible while making it all easier to use without added distractions.

For instance, customers that complete the update will receive the recently introduced “Easy Prompts” feature. Best of all, we are giving our customers a choice of how to update their vehicles, either at home or at the dealership, making it convenient and simple.

So, what does this mean for you? Uconnect users will see improved speed and accuracy, including advancements in voice recognition, navigation and audio quality.

The software update is available beginning Monday, Oct. 14.

After completing the software update, vehicle owners may notice:

System Performance is Quicker & Faster

Chrysler Group has improved the speed and accuracy of its Uconnect 8.4AN and 8.4A systems. The voice recognition technology, which enables drivers to use their voice to place and receive hands-free phone calls, change radio stations or music sources, send a personal text message, navigate to a destination and more, has been significantly improved.

Once behind the wheel, drivers that push either the voice recognition or phone button on the steering wheel will notice new audible chimes and prompts. These enhancements make the system even more intuitive.

Chrysler Group has also simplified the number of voice commands within its Uconnect systems to enhance accuracy and is introducing “Easy Prompts” to aid drivers. With Easy Prompts, the most important voice commands are made available to the driver on the 8.4-inch touchscreen display. Once the driver masters the system they can choose to turn the Easy Prompts feature off.

Press the Voice Recognition button on the steering wheel and the following Easy Prompts menu will appear.

Press the Phone button on the steering wheel and the following Easy Prompts menu will appear.

The Easy Prompts also are announced over the vehicle's audio system should the driver require help.

Customer Feedback Fuels and Drives Uconnect Improvements
Chrysler Group has been actively listening to its customers since introducing the newly evolved Uconnect systems last year. As a result, a variety of additional improvements have been included in this Uconnect software update. For instance, a few of the most noticeable include:

Drivers may notice that hands-free calling, routing to a destination and a range of other entertainment features, like Bluetooth audio streaming and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, are more accurate and easier to use.
Audio quality is also improved along with radio response times.
The number of phonebook contacts has increased from 1,000 to 5,000 and each contact can now have up to four telephone entries. The phonebook will also sync with the system even quicker.

I performed this update on my 2013 and it was flawless. There are some additional enhancements not noted above. Overall, it was a very easy process and all worked fine.
