Default 4.7 Hemi swap vs rebuild

Better off posting this here since Dakota forums are useless. I have a new style 4.7 with 16 spark plugs in my 2010. The engine is almost pooched with 287,800 hard miles on it. Would it be worth trying to track down another 16-plug 4.7L or swap in a 5.7? I've looked on quite a few sites and I haven't found anything about being able to purchase a long block gen II 4.7L, where on the other hand I can find 5.7s everywhere fairly cheap. This is in a 2010 Dakota SLT.

I'm still trying to figure out why this is in the 4th Gen Ram section.

Because rams are the only other vehicle that use the same motor. Everything related to this motor in the Dakota section is met with "LOL wut u talking about its a 4.7 not a hemi" or "LOL UR A GOOF THERES ONLY 8 PLUGS!!!".

More rams were sold with this motor than Dakotas, figured this would be a better spot.

I'd think there are a few 4.7 motors around with the 16 plugs. That's the motor that puts out ~300 hp, right? Also, there are 1 or 2 peeps who dropped in a hemi into their dak but iirc its a shoehorn and you need a new ecu and some custom flashing to make it work. Lastly, there are a lot of 2005-2007 daks with a HO 4.7 that should fit and works with your 5 speed trans.
