Superchips Question
So last year I purchased a Superchips Flashpaq 3865 for my 2009 5.7L. I read the advertised gains on their website, and even emailed with Ron Rapp who sent me these numbers:
87 octane =17hp and 20ftlbs
91 tow = 20hp and 28ftlbs
91 Perf= 40hp and 42ftlbs at the tires
93 octane =same as 91 tune
Now I notice that on the Superchips website, the 3865 is no longer available, and there is just the 3842 for my truck. It makes significantly less power (says Power Gains - + 20.0 HP & +28.0 lb-ft) then what was advertised for the one I have. Ron Rapp also sent me a link to dyno sheets for the 3865, but those links no longer work today.
So what is the deal. Why would the new programmer make less power then the one I bought last year? Is the one I have not safe, and they had to tone it down some, or was mine never truly at those numbers to begin with, and is actually the same as the new one.
Anyone have any insight on this? Thanks.

Pretty sure the part umber difference is due to the slimmer case design and newer revised Carb options because they still offer the Cortex 3950 for our trucks which is what I have for my 2008 and have had for 4yrs now.
As for the power gains, maybe its something to do with the Carb Exec order #'s which may provide increased output depending on which Carb compliant mods you have and punch in?? The 20hp/28tq rating is probably bone stock where as the earlier numbers were likely with full bolt-on items such as CAI, headers..etc
Just an assumption tho.
I will say that Superchips has done extensive testing for our Trucks and is more inline than a Diablo tune out of the box. Diablo does allow customizing for specific vehicles but unless you have a bunch of mods your not going to notice much gains really.
HemiFever is a sponsor and offers I believe a Performance tune if you buy from him. Additional tunes are extra but I think the stock canned tunes still stay??? not 100% if he deletes those or not, you could always ask.
I'm happy with my Cortex for now. Another 10hp won't make any difference to me. I mostly care about the trans tuning features with a tuner for my truck....

I believe your right. 40 hp and 42ftlbs at the WHEELS is way too much for a tuner alone

Yeah. If you believe those numbers with just a tune you must be high. You'd need a bigger throttle body, intake, full exhaust, and cams, and you might get those numbers.
