Default Muffler upgrade

I have a 2013 Ram, has anyone changed out just the Y pipe and muffler for better sound? If so what did you choose? How do you like it?

Not looking to put a full system, just get a little better rumble.

I haven't done this on my 2014, but did on my 2006 and used a magnaflow y pipe and all sorts of mufflers. You will have to choose whatever sounds best to you. Best to me was a 14 inch Magnaflow but it droned pretty bad and ended up with a 24 inch dynomax super turbo muffler. Make sure you put in a good y pipe as the stock one is crushed together and very restrictive

Just curious if we lose torque when reducing the backpressure with a less restrictive y pipe? I have thought about just replacing that and leaving the stock duals? Has anyone noticed a difference with just the y pipe being replaced? Thanks

When you look at the factory y pipe, I think you'll answer your own question. Anything you do to that area of exhaust is going to be beneficial. I actually thought my magnaflow y pipe actually improved torque somewhat. I'm sure replacing the y pipe alone will still help your engine breathe better and improve performance. Now don't look for a great big seat of the pants improvement, but I'm sure on a dyno youd see some improvement. Probably a little gas mileage improvement also

had several magnaflows and flowmasters on my 09 hemi ram. sounds were ok out of them. i think my ears just got used to them. got a 13 hemi ram and decided to go with a muffler delete. absolutely loved it the first month. once again my ears got used to it and i relate the sound to a little bit louder super 40 until you get on it. driving through underpasses and tunnels gunning it puts a huge smile on your face. haha

during the first week mpg went down a little anywhere from 3-5. i think mainly because i was driving harder. it went back to normal (didn't gain or lose) about a month into it. the only thing i don't like is 3rd gear seems to have slight lag now unless i'm using the slap stick. when it was stock, anytime i barely tapped the gas it seemed like it would hit the power band and accelerate quickly.

if i had to do it over again (which i still might) i'd try the cherry bomb extreme. but, make it true duals. or even a glasspack!?
