Default 2014 software recall

http://www.thecarconnection.com/news...-fix?fbfanpage

Chrysler will perform a free update to some Ram 1500 and 2500 pickup trucks to resolve a handful of problems stemming from programming bugs.

The customer satisfaction campaign is not an officially mandated recall. It affects the vehicle's remote access, tire-pressure monitor system (TPMS), and some starting issues.

MUST SEE: How To Kill Your Car

In the first issue, Chrysler has determined that there's a glitch in the software programming of this device that receives radio signals from the remote keyfob and translates them into vehicle commands and provides TPMS info.

The software glitch could cause slow or no passive entry access to the vehicle. Additionally the problem could stop responses from any of the remote keyless entry system's commands.

In addition to the keyless entry problems, the Ram's tire-pressure monitors may display just hash marks in the cluster instead of PSI readings.

Finally, on vehicles equipped with the Passive Entry "Go" feature, drivers may experience an occasional "No Start" condition.

The fix

Chrysler engineers have come up with a software fix for this problem. The truck's radio frequency hub module must be flashed with new software to correct the problem. The repair will be covered under the provisions of the new car warranty.

Customers who may be affected by the problem can contact their dealer for more information302
