Default Occasional clunk on downshift....

2009 Ram Hemi with 200,000 km (120,000 miles). I get a periodic "clunk" on the 2nd to 1st downshift. It's not a bang and nothing abrupt but about once a week I'll get a bit of a clunk on the downshift. Last week I was slowing behind truck going up a hill and I got a slight clunk...I believe it was 4th to 3rd. The tranny always shifts perfectly on acceleration...nice and smooth. I changed the transmission fluid and filter at 70,000 km (42,000 miles) and then I had a full flush done at 185,000 km. After the flush I went several weeks without a single clunk but now it's about once a week again. Hard to recall exactly, but I first noticed the occasional clunk around 160,000 km (100,000 miles).

Any thoughts? Not sure if it's the inevitable sign that the tranny is starting to go or if it's something repairable (aside from rebuild)? Appreciate any comments.

Have you rechecked the tranny fluid since? When you did the flush was the right trans fluid installed? Just a thought...

Yes, I made sure the correct fluid was used - Mopar ATF +4 - and the level was checked in the shop. I checked it again at operating temp about 500 miles later and it was fine.
