If you have lifetime, front to back warranty, the only thing the dealership needs to diagnose is that the transmission doesn't work. The fact that they have more work than they can handle is not your problem and so you shouldn't pay the penalty for that. Warranty issues are usually filtered by the dealership and Chrysler Customer Care only comes into play if there's a dealer - client dispute & then they make a judgement (usually in their favor). I would take the truck to another dealership that doesn't have all that extra work to do and suggest that they give you the rental vehicle and you'll pay for whatever days the warranty doesn't cover in the end - you shouldn't get any bill for this if you've followed the maintenance recommendations for all the critical items (fluid changes and inspections usually fall into that category).

I feel the same way but Chrysler Customer Care says otherwise. The only warranty I have is the lifetime drivetrain warranty but my 5 year inspection was done in a timely matter. Also I have kept all my maintenance records up to date. They did say that they may reimburse me some of my rental if they find a defected transmission. But I through that offer out of the window and out of the ball park. After them having me drive out of my way to a second dealer who they say agreed to inspect it and do the work only to tell me they didn't want to get in between me and Customer Service I gave up. Customer service told them that they had to tear it down and do a complete inspection. And they told me they didn't want to get in the middle of Customer Service and me. So when a supervisor called me back about the case number they stuck to their decision for a complete teardown. So I basically told them to f off for dragging me through all of this run around. I have to say the my dealer has been nothing but good to me. But if it the responsibility falls on Chrysler Customer Care then I'd like them to honor what ever they are liable for..

I'm curious as to how Customer Service even got involved. Usually warranty issues are pretty well defined and the dealership has no need to get customer service into the loop & establish a "case number".

I don't mind paying for one but not for three weeks.
The offer of the rental is the carrot for your trouble, it seems reasonable to me, as I understand it, rentals are not part of the manufacturers lifetime power-train warranty.

I agree. But I don't agree with having to wait until the 25th to have my truck diagnosed and then repaired. Seems there are too many transmissions breaking and not enough dealer/shops qualified to do the work.

I had P0740 and had the torque converter and pump replaced. I had to take it into the dealer three times for them to try some things. It was a pain. The last time I took it in they said, bring it back and we'll look at it. I said no. The next time it comes in it's getting fixed! The first time they did the whole checklist of stuff. The next time they replaced a sensor once, and charged me for the harness and labor to hook it up, updated the PCM. That didn't work. The whole time the truck would not lock-up into 5th towing, even going down a hill. Finally it got fixed.

Got my truck back early. They started on it Monday and finished it Thursday. They weren't even suppose to start on it until the 25 but got to it earlier then they thought. They just about rebuilt the whole transmission. I give a list of the things they repaired later on today. For now I'm tired and I'm going to bed. Props to my dealer for fixing ahead of schedule.

Ya, when they did mine it seemed like they did most of it too. I think mainly everything that has to do with the torque converter.

Did they say what was the failed component, or just burnt clutches?

sealkit 0004523-aa, piston under drive 4799650and 47999652, solenoid 52119435-af, fluid ATF 68055094-aa, sealer no 5010884-ac, converter r8051146-an, core return of same item. I'm on my phone because my Internet is down( must be a Chrysler Internet, lol). They did confirm the same era codes as prior two shop and dealership but also said clutches were burnt and found converter peices in pan but all was covered under warranty. I spent 420 dollars on rental. Could have been worse if they didn't start my truck until the 25th like they originally planned
