Default My ac actuator door thingy is snapping and popping again....

So the actuator is AFU again on my truck. Only does the floor vent now. Doesn't help when the inside temp of my truck was 101 today in the sun. If it was fixed under the recall will they fix it for free again or am I gonna have to rip my dash apart and ruin a weekend? too late to call the dealer now. Guess I'll call tomorrow.

I don't think it was a recall but a TSB for checking the actuator and reprogramming the calibrations. Anyway, the original fix is only good until the end of warranty (3 year, 36k miles) or 12 months from the repair.

I went through the same thing and they wouldn't cover it.

Yeah, you are right, it was a recall for reprogram and inspect the actuator. In my case, they reprogrammed but the actuator failed after the warranty and they would not honor the repair. I thought that if they knew they had bad parts in there, they should have removed them and replaced them with a different date code known to be good. Chrysler cheaped out and figured they'd be ahead if they waited for the part to fail after the warranty ran out.

Pedro Dog, pm DodgeCaCares about your issue, some dealers have been honoring the K-17 recall past warranty, maybe you can get reimbursed.

Well that didn't last long.....Back to making the snapping noise again. Different sound this time. Not so loud or hard but still a snapping going on and the air gets deflected to the foot box area now. Guess I have to call Dodge now and see what they tell me. Might as well price off a new motor while I a at it.....Ugh. At least it is happening while it is still sort of warm out and not -20F.

Dealer won't cover it. Says tab only covered for 36,000 miles or three years.

It is a recall and is covered no matter how many miles are on the truck. Friend of mine has an 09 and the dealership is honoring it, as they should. Dealership is saying it is a motor replacement.

I had it done 2x since it should be a safety recall if it is the actuator that controls the defrost ( air flow duct location. ). Receipt simply said "replied K17 recall".
