3rd gear is only 3000 RPM taller than 2nd gear
Hears what I mean. Under normal throttle 1st gear upshifts from 1 to 2. At around 3200. And drops back to 1200. 2nd. Goes up to 3200 shifts drops back to 1200. Runs up to 3200 and shifts to 3 rd. Thin it just drops back to 2900. And thin shifts to 4 th at 3200. Its only 3000 rpm taller. Its almost like it skips 3 rd all to getther
What you are likely seeing with the 300 RPM drop is the torque convertor lock up. An auto doesn't behave like a manual transmission, you don't just get the 5 distinct gears, you also get each gear (except 1st) plus a convertor lockup.
As already explained to you, 3rd on the evic screen is actually 2 prime
its a 1.5 ratio as opposed to the usual 1.67 ratio used for normal upshifting.
do the math
1.67gear ratio @ 3200rpm
would be X = 3200/1.67
so X multiplied by 1.5(2nd prime ratio) gives you 2874rpm
Relax your transmission is working perfectly fine.
On the 545rfe 2nd prime is only accessible on a kick down or in manual auto mode where you select 3rd which is actually 2prime
