Looking hard at getting a tuner for the RAM... really more for mileage more so than anything. What tuner do you all recommend?

I've used SuperChips. Definitely a noticeable increase in power. But the tune I'm running requires 92 octane and it does not improve MPG. I've never tried their economy tune. The SuperChips unit is fairly easy to use, though applying a tune isn't exactly quick.

No tuner is going to help mileage. Superchips has a "mileage" tune but makes the truck so sluggish, any gains are negated by having to floor it to get going and stay going. Mileage on any vehicle is optimized by the manufacturer. Your best mileage improvement will come from a light right foot, and it's free.

Agreed. Your foot is without question the easiest way to increase MPG's. Also, any way you can lighten your truck will certainly help. I know a lot of people (myself included) have been guilty of hauling around way too much stuff in bed mounted tool boxes and under back seats that primarily serve no purpose other then adding dead weight. A simple tool kit is hardly an issue but i have seen people hauling full size shop jacks, huge tool kits, sledge hammers, tow chains, spare hitches, etc that when you add it all up can easily be well over a hundred pounds. That is like carrying an extra person around all the time. That can ultimately have in impact on MPG's.

Also, keep an eye on tire pressure. Keeping your tires slightly higher than normal can help with fuel economy.

Agree on preceding posts, additionally I read through the longest thread of my life (which was beyond informative) on the Superchips tuner before deciding to go with it. FWIW I love the SC tuner, and the clean appearance of not having anything in my pillar like a screen...but to each their own..
