Default Has anyone tried this?

So, I am looking into adding the Mopar remote start (PN 82214054) to my new 2014 Ram 1500. With that being said I will acquire two more key fobs. Also, I might add that my father also has a 2010 Ram 2500.

So with that being said, has anyone tried to take a key fob from a 2014 Ram and reprogram it on a 2010 Ram?

The reason I am trying to do this is because my father's key fobs work terrible while mine are flawless. So I was thinking when I got my remote start installed I would then take my old fobs and give them to him.

It's going to have to be done by the dealer - why not just ask them?

2010 and 2014 fobs are most likely not interchangeable, you could call the parts department and ask if the part numbers are the same though. Are you sure his fobs just don't need batteries?

after checking the batteries and messing around with the contacts inside the fob, I got the fob to work a little bit better. But we ended up just installing the remote start kit 82212242 in my father's truck too. So now he has two brand new key fobs that work great with the remote start buttons and two key fobs that work ok without the remote start buttons. Thanks for all the response.
