2014 Ram; 3.6 Pentastar 8 spd or 5.6 Hemi 6 speed?
I have a last chance to steal a new 2014 Ram reg cab PU
Dlr had a 5.7 hemi 6 spd sold it and offering me same price on a 3.6 8 spd same equipment (tradesman)
I wont be towing several ton, so really do not NEED the hemi, was just thinking seat of the pants torque may be more fun to just drive. I've driven both and of course prefer the hemi, but the 6 is more than adequate, gas mileage is not a huge factor either i'm retired and not putting that many mi on one anymore.
Anyone own or have thoughts on these two? I'd appreciate it.
Thanks, Tom

Should he not be offering you a much lower price for the 3.6? That's the base engine, a Hemi would be worth much more would it not?
Regardless, if you don't need a V8 then the 3.6 will do just fine, they make good power and get great mileage.

8 speeds in the V-6 models are not made by ZF, but are licensed by ZF and Chrysler makes them. In the Durango forums (former 2013 Durango R/T owner) I read of many issues regarding the valve assemblies being replaced on the transmissions with the V-6 models. I had the 6 speed and not an issue with it.
